DSM recently supported the installation of a large AERMEC chiller unit as part of an ongoing data centre project. Working in partnership with Southern Cranes, the lift was carefully planned and coordinated to ensure the unit was safely lifted, positioned and installed within the plant area.
With equipment of this size and value, there is very little room for error. Every stage of the lift required clear communication, correct rigging and controlled crane operation to ensure the chiller was handled safely from lift-off through to final placement.

Large Chiller Installation
The unit being lifted was a large chiller, requiring a carefully controlled rigging arrangement to protect the equipment and maintain stability throughout the lift.
Chiller installation projects often involve large, awkward loads that need to be lifted accurately into rooftop plant areas, external compounds or restricted service spaces. The size of the equipment, combined with the importance of the plant itself, means planning and precision are essential.
On this task, the chiller was lifted using a controlled arrangement with spreader beams and multiple lifting points, helping maintain balance and control while the unit was moved into position.
