DSM Expands Cambridge Fleet with Additional Liebherr LTM 1630 3.1 Crane

DSM Contract Lifting Services continues to strengthen its crane hire Cambridge operations with the addition of another Liebherr LTM 1630 3.1 crane to the Cambridge depot.
The investment supports increasing demand for contract lifting, heavy lifting operations, and specialist crane hire projects across Cambridge and the surrounding areas, while complementing the branch’s existing Böcker AK52 for smaller and restricted-access lifting work.
As construction activity continues to grow across the region, expanding the fleet allows DSM to increase availability, improve response times, and support a wider range of commercial and infrastructure projects safely and efficiently.
Supporting Growth in Cambridge
The continued development of DSM’s Cambridge operations is being led by Technical Appointed Person Stephen Torrens, who plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and day-to-day running of lifting operations across the region.
As ex-military, Stephen brought a strong work ethic into the lifting industry, building his career from the ground up. Starting as a Slinger, progressing to Supervisor, then Crane Operator, and now Technical AP, his hands-on experience gives him a genuine understanding of the challenges faced on site every day.
That practical knowledge, combined with his technical expertise, has helped make him a respected figure across the industry and an important part of DSM’s continued expansion.
Stephen is also currently supporting the growth of DSM’s wider depot network, helping strengthen operations across multiple regions as the business continues to expand.
